I loved this week's How I Met Your Mother. Ted and Robin decided to go with the whole friends with benefits thing since they were having so many problems as being roommates. They figured that would solve their problem. The problem with that? You have Barney who is completely in love with Robin but can't tell her. So, he keeps having to hear about the stories of their "benefits" nights. It involved Barney going outside the bar and throwing a TV down on the ground that was in the trash. The TV disappeared at one point when the trash was gone so he went and bought one to throw down. It was really funny. They did a great sequence cutting quickly between the stories, his reaction, and the TV getting thrown. The whole concept of the episode was that friends with benefits always involves somebody getting hurt. That person was Barney. I really was feeling bad for him at the end of the episode with him being completely in love with her and unable to say anything while Ted looked on knowing what was happening with him. Great finish to the episode.
Wolowitz has feelings. That was one theme on this week's Big Bang Theory. Penny finally had all she could take of his flirting comments with her and she snapped. She basically told him that he was going to be alone for the rest of his life and it was no wonder that no woman would ever want him. It sent him into a depression and he wouldn't come out of his room including staying home from work. The guys had her apologize to him after telling her that she is nice most of the time but tends to go way over the top with her words when she gets angry. Penny apologized to him but also got the life story of every girl that had broken his heart. She did like the Wolowitz that she was seeing at that point cause he was just being himself and being real. Well, he then went to kiss her and she punched him right in the face. Wolowitz's disappearance affected the rest of the guys in their building a killer robot to win at the robot wars. However, they ended up facing another guy who built a monster robot that was complete with torching capability. Things didn't go so well for "Monte" which was the name of their robot as it ended up destroyed.
Some Heroes news. Tim Kring put out a statement saying that the plan for the fourth volume is to “start us pretty much from scratch. There is almost nothing that the audience needs to know from the previous volume in order to follow the storyline." Volume four of Heroes which is called Fugitives is set to begin on February 2nd.
There has been quite a bit of news coming out of the TCA press tour. NBC announced some news today saying that they had renewed The Office, 30 Rock, and The Biggest Loser for new seasons. ER is also going to stick around for three more episodes longer than was the plan. The show will finish on April 2nd. Fox has cancelled Prison Break.
Chevy Chase is set to guest star on three episodes of Chuck.
Burn Notice returns with new episodes on Thursday, January 22nd at 9pm central time on USA Network. This is a very fun show as I’ve seen a lot of episodes of it. I’d give it a recommendation to check it out if you haven’t seen it. Fun and smartly written show.
A follow up to last week on the Regis and Kelly – Wired 96.5 contest that they helped a fan participate in. The caller, Lora Natysyn, did in fact win the tickets based on what I’ve been able to find online. Some of the other celeb callers that they beat out included Bill Cosby, Heidi Klum, Cedric The Entertainer, and more. If you missed it, the call was done on Live With Regis and Kelly. Very fun!! Congrats to Lora on the win!!

If you’ve been watching Friday Night Lights on DirecTV, season three is over for you. However, NBC premieres season three tomorrow night, January 16th. I’ve never seen the show but I tend to think that I would like it if I watched it. I hear really good things about it.
This week's 90210 continued the fallout of the life changing news that Adrianna got last week. She confided in Naomi but she didn't know that Naomi had spread rumors about her using drugs again. That wasn't true of course and Naomi later apologized especially after knowing the major issue that Adrianna was dealing with. Things didn't go so well with Navid when she revealed to him about her news. He had been thrilled with their relationship up to that point but broke it off after hearing the news. Annie and Ethan had a rendezvous up at Annie's grandmother's house. Things didn't go as planned for Annie though and her parents showed up anyway upon learning about where Annie was. Dixon and Silver's relationship is starting to show some cracks. Dixon was puzzled over Silver's behavior towards him so I'm wondering what is going on with that whole storyline.
American Idol debuted with lower ratings than last season. The season premiere opened with 30 million viewers but was said to be down 10% from last season. However, the show did better last night on its Wednesday airing averaging 29.8 million viewers. That held just about even with last year’s second episode. Those are still great numbers OBVIOUSLY!!
TV on DVD releases for Tuesday, January 20th. Criss Angel Mindfreak (Season Four), Emergency! (Season Five), Jonathan Creek (Season Three), MonsterQuest (Season Two), Moonlight (Full Series), My Three Sons (Season One – Volume Two), The Rockford Files (Season Six), This American Life (Season Two – Only available at Borders).
