The Entertainment Wrap Up - June 19, 2008 - Tim Russert, Boston Wins, Fool's Gold, & More

It's really hard to come back down from the excitement and fun of this past weekend's Superman Celebration. It really was the most fun that I've had at a Superman Celebration. I already can't wait for next year. They can't top getting Allison Mack though. Yeah, I'm biased. I get that. ha ha. The Celebration was a lot of fun!! Thanks again to everyone involved who helped put on such a great event and to everyone that attended!!

So sad to hear of the passing of Tim Russert this past week. I was stunned when I heard the news. I thought Russert did an incredible job on TV as he would always ask the tough questions. I read a good quote about him which I thought summed him up with Meet The Press. The quote talked about how many politicians were afraid to go on his show but yet if you appeared and hung in there, the politician would earn a ton of respect. He asked the tough questions and just seemed like a great guy from everything that I've seen. I'm going to miss seeing that clipboard when it is time for election coverage. I can't even imagine how sad everyone is going to be at NBC on that night not having Russert there with them. My prayers go out to everyone that is missing him right now.

Movie box office numbers for last weekend. 1. The Incredible Hulk - $55.4 million. 2. Kung Fu Panda - $33.6 million. 3. The Happening - $30.5 million. 4. You Don't Mess With The Zohan - $16.3 million. 5. Indiana Jones - $14.7 million. 6. Sex and the City - $9.7 million. 7. Iron Man - $5.6 million. 8. The Strangers - $4 million. 9. The Chronicles Of Narnia: Prince Caspian - $3.1 million. 10. What Happens In Vegas - $1.6 million.

Michael Ausiello, who is now working for Entertainment Weekly by the way, is reporting that Sam Witwer (from Battlestar Gallactica) is set to play the role of Doomsday on this season of Smallville. Also, Cassidy Freeman (who was set to play in Justin Hartley's new show that didn't get picked up) will will play the role of a new character named Tess.

Thursdays are feeling so odd lately. I'm used to having that lineup of shows to watch with Smallville and Survivor along with others but everything is reruns. It just really doesn't feel like Thursday TV.

However, one of my favorite shows is running new episodes on Thursdays as I said last week. I loved tonight's episode of My Boys. The episode centered around the girls idea for a dinner party of singles to try and broaden the dating options. Each of the group had to bring a single person with them to the party. The guys originally all want nothing to do with it. Kenny and Mike end up at the party to learn more about the girls that they just met. Mike strikes out with one of them and demands a chance at the other one. Kenny ends up being the ladies pick as both of them end up in an argument over which gets a shot at him. This was funny stuff. The rest of the guys battle over Andy's new nanny. What about the girls? Well, Mike brought a guy to the party that he played basketball with but there is a problem. The problem for PJ was that Mike didn't know that he wasn't exactly interested in the girls but instead interested in the guys. This singles party was a really clever idea for an episode and the way it played out was a lot of fun.

Well, suddenly I have an interest in ER through another show, Roswell. Shiri Appleby has been cast to join ER next season and her role will be one of the new interns. She of course played Liz Parker on Roswell which is one of my favorite shows of all time. Also cast on the new season of ER as interns include Julian Morris and Emily Rose.

The 2008 NBA Finals have come to a conclusion and the Boston Celtics are NBA champions for the first time in over twenty years. That really was a special moment to watch with Boston winning the championship. A team that has such a huge place in NBA history returns to glory. I was completely wrong on my pick on who would win the Finals. Boston scared me off on picking them to win with how they had squeaked by the first two series in the Playoffs. They had been lousy on the road as well. LA went through the west really easily. Boston was the class of the Finals by far. They looked unstoppable including them coming back from a couple of double digit deficits. Their defense was a major problem for the Lakers as was the fire power that Boston had on offense. I am glad that the series could end in Boston so those home fans could celebrate with their team. Paul Pierce was the Finals MVP while Ray Allen had a huge game to help close out the series. I'm thrilled to see Kevin Garnett get that championship. He has such an amazing desire to win and I would like to see more NBA players like him. I think back to that sitdown interview during All Star Weekend a couple of years back. He was so tired of losing and had such a desire to win that he cried during the interview. That guy works so hard on the basketball court. That on court celebration by the team after they won was a scene of a passion to win that I haven't seen in many years. Congrats to Boston for their return to NBA glory. It was a lot of fun to watch.

If you have been missing Carrie Underwood's current tour, you may still have a chance to go. More dates have been added to the very popular tour that will continue through the rest of the year. Many of the tickets go on sale this weekend. Here is a link to check out to see if she is coming to a city near you.

I watched the movie, Fool's Gold, last night. I enjoyed it. The movie stars Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson. The two of them begin the movie as a couple set to get a divorce after many problems between the two. He is still in love with her however. The two have worked on finding a hidden treasure for several years now and he finds a clue that could lead them to the whereabouts of the treasure. He also has a lot of debt that is catching up to him as well so he has a lot of things to battle. I won't go into spoilers obviously but that should set you up for it if you are interested in seeing it. I laughed out loud several times during the movie and found the story to be entertaining. The story just had a unique feel to it. I really got into the ending of the movie when the story all comes together. I was surprised a few minutes into the movie when this one girl flashed herself on a boat. All I could think was, this is PG-13 now??!! Not crazy about that obviously in a PG-13 movie. The ratings sure are different now a days from what I'm used to apparently. I liked the combination of Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey again on screen as I thought they had great chemistry in How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days as well. I was asked today which of the two movies with them in it was the better and I still have to say How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days. However, I did enjoy this movie too. Superman Celebration 2008 - Q&A Recap Of Allison Mack, Ned Beatty, and Noel Neill

Best Superman Celebration EVER. Well, for me anyway based on the headliner. I'm a big Allison Mack fan so I was thrilled when I learned that she would be the headliner at this year's Superman Celebration in Metropolis, IL. I had a great time. I met several of the Celebration message board people which were fun to talk to and made the line times go by incredibly quick. They were a big help in coming up with game plans on the autograph sessions or whatever events. I got to meet the fan that likely traveled the longest of anyone to get there, from Australia. Great guy. Friday consisted of waiting in line at 8am to get tickets to meet the celebs on Saturday which I was just thankful to get the tickets. I went over to the Superman baseball game after that and had a great time. Lots of fun. Today was the main event of the weekend with all the celebs in attendance. We rolled in over there around 8:30 or so. More autograph tickets were released and went extremely fast and were gone not long after they were offered. Glad that I already had mine!!! I went through in the 9am line. They announced that due to the length of time that it was taking the line to get through that they weren't allowing people to take pictures with the celebs. I got to meet Ned Beatty first and then of course Allison Mack. Ned was very nice and seemed to really be enjoying meeting the fans. Allison was incredible too. She seemed to really be enjoying herself as well. I got to chat with her for about 30 seconds or so. I was so thrilled to get to meet her.

On to the Q&A. The tent was PACKED with people. After the two autograph sessions, Allison Mack, Ned Beatty, and Noel Neill made their way over to the tent. I should point out that the reason that Noel wasn't mentioned in the previous meeting stuff was that they had her in a separate location and I didn't get over there to meet her. Anyway, major photo opportunity when Allison and Ned stood in front of the Superman statue. They made their way over to answer questions. Big ovation for all the guests as they were introduced. Allison went over and hugged Noel Neill before the Q&A started as I doubt that she had gotten to meet her yet. All of them were a lot of fun with their answers. I recapped some of the Q&A stuff for you with what they were asked and their answers. I was planning to do more but it was taking forever to type so I just picked out bits and pieces. The recap is mostly Allison Mack stuff so I greatly apologize for the little amount of the others. She did get the most questions though.

The Q&A session with fans asking the questions.
Allison Mack:
Question: Assuming that next season may be the last season of Smallville, do you know what you're going to be doing beyond that?

Answer: I have no idea. Hopefully making more things. I love what I do and I want to continue doing it. I'm totally inspired by all the actors around me. Once Smallville is done, I'll just be looking for the next job and the next, the next, the next, and just keep making stuff.

Question: Any chance of a Smallville movie? Please.

Answer: I don't think so. We've got the Superman movies out now so I think that takes the place of the story on the big screen and we'll stick to the small.

Question: What is it like to get to act with Tom Welling?

Answer: I get a kink in my neck cause he's so tall. He's about a foot taller than me. Tom is an amazing, amazing man. He's very kind and generous and loving. Working with him is a real joy. He's incredibly creative and tenacious. It's really a pleasure.

Question: Are you as good at hacking computers in real life as you do on Smallville?

Answer: I have a total technophobe. I'm horrible on computers. It is very funny. The fact that I can pass as a computer genius in any way is a miracle.

Question: My favorite scene with you and Clark is the two of you dancing at the high school dance. What is your favorite part with Clark?

Answer: I like when he has to carry me at super speed. (She then reenacted what it was like which was funny). That scene, I pick him up for the prom at the farm. They are always putting me in these super high heels cause he is so much taller than I am and they are asking me to run next to Tom Welling in high heels and usually very tight clothing. This was just another example of super rocky bizarre kind of ground, super high heels, really fitted dress, and then Tom and I. I went to get out of the car and was trying to be all elegant and I was running towards him. It was this beautiful moment and I just fell right into him. He was like "good morning". "Good morning Tom".

Question: Thoughts on Lex Luthor?

Answer: Michael Rosenbaum is a fantastic actor. I've never met anyone that can switch in and out of character as fast as him. He is one of the funniest, goofiest, outrageous, silly men that I've ever met. Yet when you watch him on camera, he is so dead on. So he'll go from literally doing a ridiculous striptease with Christopher Walken impersonations thrown in there to just zooming in and telling you that he's going to take your parents farm and destroy your life. He's incredible. He came to set one day and everyone was feeling a little low and he kind of assumed that the energy was a little raw so he decided to start breakdancing. He wears armani suits and his clothes are really nice on the show. So, he's spinning on his back and doing pullups on the set to try and get everyone going.

Question: When is Alice and Huck coming out?

Answer: Alice and Huck is a short film that I made with some friends of mine and we've been documenting it on my website, AllisonMack.com. It's the first time that I've ever made something from scratch so it's been a cool thing. The film is finished so it's just final touchups and music, stuff like that. We'll be submitting it to film festivals this fall. I'll keep everyone posted on it on the website.

Question: Thoughts on Doomday arriving on Smallville?

Answer: I'm looking forward to this season as I think we're going to have the opportunity to add some really awesome new characters that we've never seen before. We're going to explore a lot of things that are a little darker than we've ever seen on the show and kind of get away from the kryptonite stuff. I think it will be very exciting.

Question: Will we see more of Chloe's powers in season eight?

Answer: You will definitely see my powers develop in season eight. There are so many questions that have been unanswered as far as what the powers are, how they work, and how I can control them. So, I think you'll start to see me really harness them and understand what exactly I can do and that will be really cool.

Ned Beatty:
Question: How hard was it to have Loni Anderson as your assistant?

Answer: I had a wonderful love scene, in my mind, to play with Loni Anderson. Then, the dark headed kid named Burt Reynolds blew the whole thing up. (Lots of laughter during this answer. Funny stuff.)

Question: Did you enjoy doing Shooter?

Answer: Yes, a lot of it was shot on a glacier that was north of Vancouver. Danny Glover and I had long, deep conversations about religion because we couldn't figure out why we were up there on that glacier. (laughs). Ned said good things about the script and the movie itself.

Question: What was it like to work with Mark Wahlberg on the set?

Answer: It was good. I saw Mark when we went to see a screening of the movie. People were interviewing us for TV and radio spots. I said that it was like working with another character actor. He was there doing the work. No star business or any of that stuff going on. I looked back and there was Mark who was right behind me. I said "Mark, I really meant that and I hope that you didn't mind me saying that". He said "I've never had anyone say anything that has thrilled me more from another actor". He's a real pro and just works at doing the work. I really admire him.

Noel Neill did speak about the statue that is going to be a tribute to her in Metropolis. She had this to say about it: "We saw some of the final things of what the statue is going to look like. Hopefully, they are going to have it next year." I was curious to know about Noel's statue myself cause I was thinking that they were going to do it this year. She has been incredible with going to Metropolis every year for the Celebration and deserves every bit of that statue in her honor. The first lady of Metropolis.

Other random stuff from the Q&A. Allison spoke about Chloe's encounter with Brainiac at the end of season seven and complimented James Marsters on being a great actor. Ned Beatty talked about how he and Allison had discussed when they worked together in a movie when she was eight years old and he said that thankfully he was nice to her. ha ha. Ned has yet to see an episode of Smallville. Ned was asked if he hears the Otis theme in his head to which he replied that he hears a lot of different music in his head with that being one of them. Funny moment when a fan said that they were unable to get tickets for the autograph sessions. They asked if they could meet Allison now and get a hug. She said yes and the fan went up there and got the hug and a picture. The rest of us in the place were thinking "what a lucky jerk". ha ha!!!! It was a fun moment especially when the fan pulled the camera out to get the picture of them as well. Ned Beatty was great and joked around a lot with a lot of answers but also gave very honest answers. Noel was great and she has so much respect from the fans there. Allison was a lot of fun and her personality really shows at these type of things.

Very fun weekend. I met a lot of great people and had a great time. Weather wasn't too awfully bad temperature wise. The storms on Friday definitely put a damper on things for a while as things got rough in the area for a bit. The sun returned today and all was good. There were so many people over there that had incredible costumes and were so nice to let people take pictures of them. Just wanted to recap the Celebration and it was a great time!! Thanks to everyone for the hard work of putting on the event and to Metropolis for hosting all the fans. Thanks to everyone including the actors, writers, artists, and all who took the time out of their schedule to appear to meet the fans. Hoping that they had as much fun as the fans did. Meeting Allison Mack was a real thrill for me and it's going to be tough to top that. Talk to you again on Thursday. Take care and God bless!!

The Entertainment Wrap Up - June 12, 2008 - WB.com Review, My Boys Premieres, and More

The second season of My Boys premiered tonight on TBS. We got our answer to the question of who did PJ take with her to Italy? She took Bobby for her own reasons but none that she explained to him. She was hoping to act on her romantic feelings for him. Things went bad for her when she couldn't tell him the real reason that she brought him and then Stephanie and Lance broke up leaving Stephanie hanging out with the two of them. The guys back at home struggle with PJ gone and Bobby missing. No one told them that Bobby was going to Italy so they think he was missing. Mike hits on the waitress at Crowley's and sleeps with her. He then doesn't call her which results in her, of course, being furious and she bans the whole group from the place. It really made me think of the How I Met Your Mother episode when Barney was hitting on the waitress and they just kept telling him "dude you're going to kill the bar". ha ha. Anyway, PJ, Bobby, and Stephanie make their way back from Italy. Stephanie feels bad that she probably wrecked any romantic chances between PJ and Bobby. PJ says that it was ok cause she never saw any kind of signs anyway to pursue anything. The group gets back together for poker and PJ pretty much puts Bobby in the friend zone right in front of the group and him so she's stuck in that position now for the time being. PJ got things worked out to get the gang back into Crowley's when she apologizes to the waitress. Funny explanation when she said that the guys don't know how to act when she is gone. ha ha. The group is let back in, well, except Mike. PJ lets him wait out another week when she finds out that he used the McConaughey accent to win over the waitress. Fun episode and I'm ready to see what they do from here with PJ and Bobby.

Want to know my newest addiction? Well, it isn't surprising cause I have been talking about it since I heard about it. I got my beta testing invitation for TheWB.com and I put it through a major test checking out everything. The WB is back. Not on TV but online. The site doesn't fully launch until August but they are currently beta testing it. All you have to do is register and you'll get a login emailed to you. The site has several shows on there but only has about six episodes of each for the moment. They are adding more and more shows as they go but the site is still in the building process as we get closer to the full launch. Shows available to watch on there right now are All Of Us, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Friends, Gilmore Girls, The OC, One Tree Hill, Smallville, The Wayans Brothers, Blue Water High and Dangerous. Most of the shows have season one episodes up but One Tree Hill has season three episodes posted. Veronica Mars is up on the site as a link but the episodes aren't there yet so they are getting ready to launch it as well with season one. The video quality is amazing. Just like the other sites, you can watch in a small screen or full screen. The quality looks really good in fullscreen. My Friday night last week consisted of me watching shows on the site all night. Funny thing is that I had seen every episode of the shows that I watched before but I was all about watching them again. I rewatched the pilots of Friends, Gilmore Girls, and Smallville with an episode of One Tree Hill thrown in as well from season three. I laughed all the way through Friends and Gilmore Girls as I hadn't seen the pilot episodes of either show in a while. I look forward to them getting more One Tree Hill episodes up on the site cause I already plan on watching all of the episodes that I've missed over the last couple of years. There are features on the stars of the shows and also various games that you can play on the site. The site is also going to tie into Facebook where you can link the two together. They are taking feedback from beta testers on ways to improve the site, what you like and don't like, and any suggestions of stuff to add. I sent in a couple of comments of stuff that I'd like to see added but I'm very happy with what I'm seeing so far. The network that I lived on for so many years is now going to turn into the site that I live on now. ha ha. I seriously see myself spending a LOT of time on this site. I have missed The WB so much and this site is going to be a lot of fun!!

Movie box office numbers for last weekend. 1. Kung Fu Panda - $60.2 million. 2. You Don't Mess With the Zohan - $38.5 million. 3. Indiana Jones - $22.7 million. 4. Sex and the City - $21.2 million. 5. The Strangers - $8.9 million. 6. Iron Man - $7.4 million. 7. The Chronicles Of Narnia: Prince Caspian - $5.6 million. 8. What Happens In Vegas - $3.4 million. 9. Baby Mama - $0.8 million. 10. Made Of Honor - $0.8 million.

Like I said last week, I've been watching some different shows since the TV season is over to see if I can get hooked on something different. I gave 30 Rock another chance and watched the episode which had Jerry Seinfeld as the guest star. I enjoyed the episode overall. I thought the stuff with Seinfeld was funny. Not really that crazy about the Tracy Jordan character but maybe it is funnier in other episodes. I liked the stuff with Tina Fey's character going through the meltdown of the breakup and buying the wedding dress. I'm going to watch some more and see if I can get into the show.

Heroes will have a Veronica Mars reunion of sorts coming in season three. Francis Capra has been cast to guest star on a few episodes this season. Capra played Weevil on Veronica Mars so seeing him and Kristen Bell together again will be a lot of fun to watch.

I got an email about news on Design Star and wanted to pass it along to the fans of the show. Season three has premiered on HGTV and is airing on Sundays at 8pm central time. The show has nine contestants battling it out in the designing world with the winner getting their own show on the network. For more info on the show, head over to: http://www.hgtv.com/designstar

I ended up watching Friends last night on TBS and the prom episode was on. It's been a while since I've seen this episode but that moment of Rachel realizing what Ross had done for her on the prom videotape is still a great TV moment. Chandler's line of "how many cameras are on you" still makes me laugh every time.

I re-watched the pilot of Roswell on Hulu last week. I really enjoyed watching it again. Roswell was a show that I watched from the first episode and it became a favorite show that I helped fight for with the fan campaigns. I really loved how the first season focused on the love story between Max and Liz. That really was the heart of the show. That first scene in the diner really was such an effective way of setting up the story. After what happens there with Max saving her life, we get to see Max and his group go into panic mode on how to protect their secret. It is such a shame though that so much music has been replaced in the episode. There is music missing in the very first scene. At least, "Crash Into Me" was left in the final scene. Yeah, I see myself re-watching season one. I still say season one was the best season of the show but I thought season two was very enjoyable. Season three just became too much of the Isabel show for my liking.

TV on DVD releases for Tuesday, June 17th. Burn Notice (Season One), Californication (Season One), Dynasty (Season Three - Volume One), ER (Season Nine), Jericho (Season Two), Sabrina The Teenage Witch (Season Four), Transformers Animated (Tranform and Roll Out).

You Tube Video Of The Week: NBA2K trailer. Amazing video game recreation of the 1992 NBA Finals with Michael Jordan's three point showcase.

Have a great weekend!! Take care and God bless!!

The Entertainment Wrap Up - June 5, 2008 - My Boys Returns, BTTF, Idol & DVR's, & More

When I am having such a tough time finding stuff to watch with the TV season being over, the thought of My Boys returning for new episodes is a great one!! This will definitely become very happy summer viewing for me. My Boys was a show that I got hooked on when I was watching the shows on demand. This show was actually a great comfort for me when I had caught a very nasty cold that winter and I was trying to find something to watch as I laid in bed. I had seen a lot of promos for the show and thought it looked good. So, I checked out the premiere and LOVED it. I spent the next couple of days laying in bed and was getting a lot of joy from this new show that I had happened on to. It gave me a lot of laughs and I've been hooked on it ever since. If you aren't familiar with My Boys, the show follows the adventures of PJ, her brother, and friends as they go through life and dating. PJ is a sportswriter in Chicago and writes about the Cubs. She often struggles with dating cause of having mostly all guy friends and being around them so much. At the end of season one, we were left with the cliffhanger of who did PJ take with her to Italy? Which guy was it? I actually have no guess on who it was. What is up with PJ and the boys this season? I'm looking forward to finding out. The new episodes premiere on Thursday, June 12th at 8:30pm central time on TBS. I highly recommend checking out this show if you haven't seen it. I have laughed out loud at it a TON of times. Very cleverly written. If you're needing a recap of season one to get you up to date on the happenings, you're in luck. Here is a link and it is a very fun recap video as I watched it earlier today:

Here is a link to a preview of season two:

TBS has another season premiere set for the same night as The Bill Engvall Show premieres its second season on June 12th at 8pm. Here is a link to check out a sneak preview of the new season: http://www.tbs.com/video/index/#/all-video/shows/the-bill-engvall-show/sneak-peek/

Variety had an article up last week that I was reading which said that Paramount is bringing back the Beverly Hills Cop series of movies. Eddie Murphy is signed on for the fourth movie which is planned for a summer 2010 release. The project is very early on. Well, I'm definitely in for watching this as that series of movies is one of my favorites of all time. Hopefully, great things will be done with it.

With all this sequel talk, is there a chance for my favorite movie franchise to return? The answer is obviously no but the question always gets raised among fans. I'm speaking of the Back To The Future franchise. Writer and producer, Bob Gale, recently took part in a Q&A at the Celebration Exotic Car Festival where he addressed the question immediately before even being asked. He said: "Let me answer one question before anyone asks it, which is, 'Is there ever be a Back To The Future Part IV? No. We've all seen sometimes where they make one too many sequels and you say, 'Maybe they shouldn't have done that.' I'm not going to name any names of movies, but you know what they are. But more importantly, as I'm sure you all know, Michael J. Fox is not in the best of shape with his Parkinson's. The idea of making another Back To The Future movie without Michael J. Fox — you know, that's like saying 'I'm going to cook you a steak dinner and I'm going to hold the beef.' You can't do that. The filmmakers - we all love the three Back To The Future movies just the way they are. I'm sure Universal would love it if we were to say to them, 'Hey, let's do another one,' but we don't think we could ever make a fourth one that would live up to how great the first three are, so we're going to leave well enough alone."
That is a fair answer. Personally, it doesn't bother me that they don't make another one cause I'm happy with the three and I really don't know what you can do with the series especially with it being almost twenty years since the last one was released. Don't get me wrong. If they brought it back, I'd be in line for the first showing to see it when it was released.

I was so disappointed to read about the fire at Universal Studios where so much history in movies was damaged or destroyed. The Back To The Future stuff obviously pulled on my heart strings. Ironic thing is that I didn't even know that they still had part of the set available for tours.

If you didn't watch the American Idol finale live a couple of weeks ago, my question is did you get to see the result of who won? I ask because TIVO's and DVR's all across the country shut off at 9:00 before the result was announced. I commented on this that week that I was looking at the clock and thinking about how many people were going to be mad if they were recording it. It was clearly running past 9:00 and I noticed that the show was listed to run from 7-9pm. It could not have ended more cruelly for people that had recorded. I am being completely serious when the DVR's cut off right after Ryan Seacrest uttered the words, "the winner by 12 million votes of American Idol 2008 is David". Then, it cut off!! How about that incredible timing? Here is my tip that I have learned several years ago. Always set to record the American Idol finale past its allowed time. It runs over by at LEAST five minutes every year. I remember Taylor Hicks and Katharine McPhee taking the stage for a song together at just about 9:00 on the dot leaving a guarantee that the show was going to run WAY over. Take note to do that next year if if happened to you so it doesn't happen again. Larry King asked the cast during their interview if they had heard about it and it didn't sound like many had heard about this news. I hadn't heard about it until Larry asked them. Like I said, I was thinking at the time that it was going to be a problem but hadn't followed up to see if there were complaints. Always run your recorders longer if possible cause you just never know if a show is going to be on time. If you're recording a show on MTV, VH-1, or CMT, well, start it five minutes early and end it five minutes late. I'm completely serious that it is that bad sometimes with trying to record stuff on those channels.

Movie box office numbers for last weekend. 1. Sex and The City - $57 million. 2. Indiana Jones - $44.7 million. 3. The Strangers - $20.9 million. 4. Iron Man - $13.5 million. 5. Chronicles Of Narnia: Prince Caspian - $12.7 million. 6. What Happens In Vegas - $6.6 million. 7. Speed Racer - $2.2 million. 8. Baby Mama - $2.1 million. 9. Made Of Honor - $1.9 million. 10. Forgetting Sarah Marshall - $1 million.

I was happy to see Sex and The City do such a high box office number. Why? Well, I don't watch the show but I think this is a great thing for the TV genre. This might be encouragement for other shows that have either ended or been cancelled to take the leap and try a movie. A lot of times it just takes one to jump and the others will fall in behind.

Smallville casting news. As many were wondering including myself, it appears that Justin Hartley will be a series regular on Smallville for season eight according to Kristin over at E Online. Green Arrow returns!! She also adds that Kristin Kreuk will be back for a number of episodes next season. http://www.eonline.com/gossip/kristin/detail/index.jsp?uuid=209ae407-79c9-42aa-9248-8e5a3d4341e6

The official press release is out for season seven of Smallville on DVD. I mentioned some of the extras on the set but the press release also has announcements that there will be unaired scenes and commentary on the set. Taking part in commentary is said to be executive producers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar but will also include cast commentary from John Glover and Justin Hartley. I'm thrilled to see commentary returning to the set cause that is one of my favorite extras to have. No blooper reel though which is always a bummer.

I've got to say that a NBA Finals matchup of the LA Lakers and Boston Celtics is a lot of fun. I never knew if we'd see that Finals matchup anytime soon. It should be fun. I'm picking the Lakers to win the series as I just think they've been more consistent than the Celtics in the playoffs. However, the Celtics looked good in Game 1 tonight. That rivalry being back in the main event is something I've been looking forward to watching.

Count Tori Spelling in for the new Beverly Hills 90210 spinoff. She is said to be returning as Donna Martin for a few episodes.

If you’re a Survivor fan, I’d recommend checking out the Life at Ponderosa videos that are on CBS.com. It is a look at what the jury is up to as the game goes along. The clips don’t go longer than five minutes and ranges in seeing them just have fun but also sees the arrival of each voted out cast member. The cameras ride along with the person that was voted out as they give their immediate thoughts and reactions to what occurred to end their game. Eliza was the first to arrive and the cameras follow her around as she checks everything out. Ozzy’s arrival was of course one of anger. Jason was frustrated as could be and let Eliza and Ozzy know that he had the immunity idol with him but didn’t play it. In one of the episodes, Eliza, Ozzy, Jason, and Alexis all take a tour of a nearby island with a lot of history to it. Erik’s arrival is funny as the jury all questions him on what he was thinking. Erik says that surviving on your own is one thing but surviving with four crazy women is something else. James then goes on to talk about how he had given away his title of dumbest Survivor ever. LOL

As I'm typing this, I'm hearing this new song by Maroon 5 and Rhianna called "If I Never See Your Face Again". Really liking it. Good sound to it.

I mentioned a few weeks ago that Fox had a listing of shows set for their season premieres at the end of August. Fox has since changed plans and moved them to September. Here is the new season premiere dates for some of them: Prison Break (September 1), Bones (September 3), Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader? (September 5), Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (September 8). That is the plan for Fox as of right now anyway.

Speaking of Bones, I watched the first episode on Hulu the other day to see what it was like. I liked it all right. It wasn't something that I just loved but I thought it was ok. I'd like to watch a few more episodes to see if it could hook me. I'm a big David Boreanaz fan so I had to check out the show. Yeah, Hulu is going to be getting a lot of attention from me in the next little while as I search for something to watch since the TV season is over. I plan on trying a bunch of new (to me) shows.

Interesting report from the Miliken Institute as they released their findings on what kind of money that the writers strike cost the state of California. $2.1 billion!! WOW.

I stopped in and watched a minute or so of the new Real World this week. I haven't watched the show in years because it became so frustrating. I used to love this show and this was TV appointment type viewing for when it came on. I'd always have my food ready and be set to watch the new episodes. The mix of music into the show was great and there are a lot of songs that I'll hear on the radio now which makes me think of a particular scene or episode. I think I jumped onboard with the first season about halfway through. I had a bunch of friends over and we ended up landing on MTV and watched it. This was of course the first season of New York. The original social experiment of bringing seven strangers together from all over the country to see how they would get along, to see what would happen when strangers stop being polite and start getting real. What is funny is that I still remember the opening lines of the show. That first season was great TV and I enjoyed the show for many seasons after that. I would always be disappointed when the season would come to an end because it was like you were saying goodbye to people that you had come to know through this show. Then, you just waited nervously hoping that you'd like the next cast. After New York, there was season two of Los Angeles. I loved this season and it brought the drama to a whole different level with there being so many different personalities of people. Season three in San Francisco brought us the sad story of Pedro. It also brought us a character that would not long be forgotten. All I have to say is "do you want Puck on 6 or Puck on 8?" After that was the London season and I think I am one of the few people that actually liked that season. Most people hate that season with a passion but I liked it. I guess the problem with that season for most people is that they actually liked each other and got along. I was fine with that and it's fun to see a group get along. Season five in Miami was just kind of there for me. Just indifferent to it and this was also the first season where the cast had to have a job if I remember right. Season six in Boston was just kind of all right for me as well. Season seven in Seattle was a favorite of mine as well. Hawaii had season eight and it brought us the craziest season of the show yet with that group. Season nine in New Orleans just wasn't a favorite of mine. I'd say it is one of my least favorite seasons. Season ten returned to New York and it was a solid season. Season eleven was Chicago and was one of my favorite seasons. I enjoyed the cast quite a bit that year and enjoyed following what they were up to as the show went along. Season twelve in Las Vegas. This was the season that finished the show for me. The boundaries that were pushed with this cast just turned me completely off as the show became about who could hook up with who. I did come back for one more season and that was season thirteen in Paris. Loved this season and loved the cast. Very entertaining. However, that was it for me. I couldn't tell you a thing about the rest of the seasons up to now as I just couldn't take the show anymore.

TV on DVD releases for Tuesday, June 10th. 7th Heaven (Season Six), Army Wives (Season One), The Dukes Of Hazzard (Movie Collection), The Fugitive (Season Two - Volume One), Hawaii Five-O (Season Four), Home Improvement (Season Eight), McLeod's Daughters (Season Six), My Boys (Season One), The Odd Couple (Season Four).
