Sorry that the Wrap Up is so short this week. I don't have a whole lot typed up. Next week will be lively however with many finales and the network upfronts.
Next week is the presentations from the networks for the fall season or as I like to call it "make me mad week". LOL. I still have a bitter taste in my mouth from the results of last year that left me without Veronica Mars. I don't see anything really on the horizon that will anger me as far as cancellations as most of my favorites are returning. However, I've yet to see a renewal for How I Met Your Mother so that makes me a bit nervous but I'd be surprised if it didn't get picked up. We'll see what the networks come up with as far as new shows, returning shows, and scheduling.
I didn't like reading this story this morning. More Smallville casting news being talked about over at TV Guide. Note to the studio. You may want to spend some more money on this popular show. The creators are gone. Michael Rosenbaum is gone. Kristin Kreuk is only going to be part time. Is Allison Mack the next to go? Michael Ausiello over at TV Guide is saying that the negotiations to bring her back have gotten a little rougher since Rosenbaum's announcement last week. It is no secret that they can't bare to lose so many of their main players on the show and she is in an excellent bargaining position right now. http://community.tvguide.com/blog-entry/TVGuide-Editors-Blog/Ausiello-Report/Ausiello-Scoop-Allison/800039168
Next week is the season finale of Smallville which gets our grand total to twenty episodes for season seven. So, the strike only had us lose two episodes. The previews for next week look pretty incredible with the Clark and Lex battle. Tonight's episode was definitely laying out all the information that we're going to need for next week. It should be exciting.
That had to be one of, if not the, dumbest move in Survivor history tonight. Erik seems like a nice guy but what were you thinking??!! My reaction was much like the jury. I was laughing out loud especially when I saw the reaction of everyone watching what had just occurred. Just unbelievable that the women pulled that move off. If you missed it, Erik won the immunity challenge. Erik had been called out earlier on how he had told each girl the same thing with how he wanted the game to turn out. The women decided to make a play to see if they could somehow get him to give immunity to Natalie. Natalie said immediately that she thought it was a dumb idea and how he'd never go for it. They played to Erik's weakness of knowing that he doesn't have much sympathy on the jury and how it could come back to get him. They promised him that if he gave her immunity that they'd vote out Amanda. That changed though when he talked about wanting to vote out Parvati instead. Cirie made a comment to the others that she'd say she'd vote out whoever if it convinced him to do it. We get to tribal council and he is getting ripped on by the women for playing all sides. He decides to make up for it and gives immunity over to Natalie. Erik then proceeded to be voted out by all of the women. The women couldn't even believe that this worked out for them. With Erik being voted out, that is the last of the men in the game. We're down to the final four of Amanda, Cirie, Parvati, and Natalie. The Survivor finale is this Sunday night on CBS at 7pm central time with the two hour finale and then the one hour reunion show.
Movie box office numbers for last weekend. 1. Iron Man - $100.8 million. 2. Made Of Honor - $15.5 million. 3. Baby Mama - $10.3 million. 4. Forgetting Sarah Marshall - $6.1 million. 5. Harold and Kumar - $6 million. 6. Forbidden Kingdom - $4.2 million. 7. Nim's Island - $2.8 million. 8. Prom Night - $2.5 million. 9. 21 - $2.1 million. 10. 88 Minutes - $1.6 million.
The news of the movie box office weekend was obviously the incredible opening by Iron Man. The movie was second place all time in opening weekend earnings for a non-sequel movie. In first place is still Spiderman in 2002. Iron Man did extremely well overseas too. To no surprise, Marvel has already announced a sequel which will open on April 30, 2010. I haven't seen Iron Man but I am hearing great things about it.
Here is a link to the trailer for the new Batman movie, The Dark Knight, if you want to check it out. It looks very good. I loved Batman Begins so I'm looking forward to seeing this one too. The Dark Knights opens in theatres on July 18th. http://www.whysoserious.com/happytrails/trailer.htm
The season finale of The Hills is this Monday night on MTV. The new episodes have been fun as we are seeing all the social circles starting to come together and cross paths over the episodes.
I thought the stuff with Barney trying to become a wingman for someone new was funny stuff on this week's How I Met Your Mother. His co-worker worked his way into the position and Barney realized how he was going to have troubles with this guy.
The final four is set on American Idol. The contestants sang songs this week involving the Rock N' Roll Hall Of Fame. Some various thoughts on the week and contestants. Syesha Mercado is on a roll. Since the Andrew Lloyd Webber week, she has been amazing. She has an incredible voice and I'd love to see her win this whole thing. The Davids were strong again this week and I really enjoy waiting to see what risks that Jason Cook is going to take with songs. Wow, Jason Castro had a very bad week including forgetting the lyrics on one of his songs. The bottom two this week were Jason Castro and Syesha Mercado. Going home was Jason Castro. I literally had a sigh of relief when Syesha was declared safe. These one hour results shows are just becoming to be too much. Last night's show felt like so much filler. I did like the new Maroon 5 song and it was fun to catch up with Bo Bice. However, there is just so much on this show that they could get done in thirty minutes. So, we're down to the final three. It is Syesha Mercado, David Cook, and David Archuleta. It should be an entertaining showdown.
